The Producer Of The Beloved Global Group XG Urgently Arrested In Japan On Charges Of Drug Possession
Simon, a former member of the boy group Dalmatian and the producer of the popular Japanese girl group XG, has been urgently arrested in Japan on charges of drug possession.
According to officials active in Japan on the 23rd of February, Simon was caught in the act and arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department in the early morning of that day at a hotel room in Nagoya, Japan, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act. At the time of arrest, he was reportedly in possession of cocaine and marijuana and was with three acquaintances. The companions are said to be officials from a major Japanese entertainment agency.
Police are investigating the detailed circumstances, including how they obtained the cocaine.
Simon debuted in 2010 and joined the boy group Dalmatian as a new member in 2012, but the team effectively disbanded in 2013. He began working as a producer in 2013 and established his own entertainment agency, where he serves as CEO, in 2017. In 2022, he debuted the seven-member girl group XG.
Simon was arrested at a hotel shortly after attending XG’s Nagoya concert on the 22nd.
XG has recently been drawing attention in the global market. The group is currently holding its second world tour and kicked off the tour in Yokohama from the 6th to the 8th. A total of approximately 60,000 spectators attended over the three days. XG continued the world tour in Nagoya on the 22nd, and Simon was reportedly present at the tour.
News of Simon’s arrest was also reported by some Japanese media outlets that day. In response, an XG representative told The Fact, “We have learned of the news and are currently assessing the situation.”
Many fans of the group XG are now worried about how much this might affect the progress they’ve made since Simon is so closely tied to the brand of XG.
