The Supreme Court Finalizes Yang Hyun Suk Guilty Verdict In The Coercion Case Against Trainee In Relation To B.I’s Drug Use Case
Yang Hyun Suk, chief producer of YG Entertainment, has been convicted.
On the 18th of July, the Supreme Court’s first division (presided over by Justice Ma Yong Ju) finalized the original ruling that sentenced Yang Hyun Suk to six months in prison with one year of probation for charges including coercing a meeting under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Yang Hyun Suk was put on trial for allegedly threatening an informant to cover up drug use allegations involving former iKON member B.I (real name Kim Han Bin).
After the guilty verdict, Yang Hyun Suk released a statement saying, “Although I am disappointed with the Supreme Court’s ruling, I accept it humbly.”
He continued, “Although the initial charge of ‘retaliatory threats’ resulted in not guilty verdicts in both the first and second trials, during the second trial the prosecution changed the charge to the unfamiliar ‘coercion of meeting,’ leading to a prolonged legal battle that lasted five years and eight months. I will now move forward with greater caution and a stronger sense of responsibility as I focus on my work.”
