A 25 Year Old Korean Influencer Murdered, Man In His 50s Who Donated To Her Suspected Of Her Murder
A 20-something influencer, Yoon Ji A, who had over 300,000 followers on social media and dreamed of becoming an actress, was found dead.
Her body was discovered in a remote mountain area in Muju, Jeollabuk-do, where she had no known connections. The brutality of the crime shocked the public, and even more so when the suspect, a man in his 50s surnamed Choi, was revealed.
The October 3 broadcast of SBS’s “Unanswered Questions” covered the tragic case of Yoon Ji A’s death.
The perpetrator, Choi, was a well-known figure in the social media industry. He introduced himself as the CEO of an IT company and approached Yoon Ji A under the pretext of helping her grow her SNS following as a business partner. On video platforms, he was known by the nickname “Black Cat” and was regarded as a “VIP big spender,” known for donating astronomical sums. Industry insiders said, “He was at a level that requires spending at least 100 million won [$71,044].”
However, this image was all a façade. In reality, Choi was drowning in massive debt, and his home had even been seized through a forced auction on the day of the crime. Behind the glamorous image of a wealthy VIP was a man collapsing under the weight of financial ruin.
Just before the incident, Yoon Ji A reportedly wanted to end their partnership due to Choi’s coercive demands and unreasonable schedule. CCTV footage even captured Choi kneeling and pleading with her before the crime occurred.
The tragedy unfolded around 3:27 p.m. on September 11, 2025, shortly after Yoon Ji A ended her final live broadcast. Her family said, “The detective told us that the camera showed her trying to get out of the car at 3:27, but she was forcibly pulled back inside, and the door closed again.” Her cause of death was later confirmed as asphyxiation due to neck compression.
After killing Yoon Ji A, Choi loaded an unknown suitcase into his car and drove to the mountains of Muju. To confuse investigators, he stopped eight times along the way but was arrested just 12 hours after the discovery of the body. Initially, he denied the allegations, but after the police found the body, he eventually confessed.
According to “Unanswered Questions,” Choi’s despair over losing his home and his anger after failing to gain financial benefit through Yoon Ji A may have driven him to commit the crime.
