Famous Kpop Idol Apologizes Three Times After Remarks On Recent Web Show Appearance Gain Backlash
ZEROBASEONE’s Sung Hanbin has once again apologized for his inappropriate remarks.
On the 7th of September, Sung Hanbin posted a lengthy apology on the fan communication platform Bubble, saying, “I sincerely apologize for the careless words and actions that caused discomfort in the ‘Kkondaehee’ video released on the 6th.”
He continued, “After experiencing this incident, I needed some time to organize my thoughts before speaking. During this time, I’ve thought a lot about how much more careful I need to be with my words and actions, and what kind of attitude I should carry moving forward.”
He explained, “At the time, I was nervous and used an inconsiderate expression without thinking deeply. I had no intention whatsoever, but I realized that my shortcomings and ignorance can cause hurt. I feel nothing but shame and regret.”
Sung Hanbin added, “I once again sincerely apologize to ZEROSE (fandom name) and everyone who may have felt uncomfortable due to my shortcomings. I will take this incident as an opportunity to move forward with greater responsibility and maturity. I will work hard, keep learning, and show through my actions that I have changed so as not to disappoint you.”
Sung Hanbin appeared as a guest with fellow group member Seok Matthew on the YouTube channel “Kkondaehee,” which was released on the 6th. In the video, Seok Matthew said, “Hanbin hyung makes a funny sound when going over speed bumps.”
Sung Hanbin then replied, “When you go over a speed bump hard, your butt hurts. That’s when we have a meme we use among ourselves to make each other laugh,” before imitating the sound of a woman moaning.
Comedian Kim Daehee immediately said, “This isn’t right, is it?” But Sung Hanbin insisted, “Since I’m on ‘Kkondaehee,’ I’ll do it once. Yami.”
Once the video was released, it sparked backlash online. Many criticized that since the sound carried sexual undertones, it was unpleasant, and pointed out that Sung Hanbin’s behavior was careless.
As criticism grew, Sung Hanbin initially explained on a fan messaging platform, “I went too far on ‘Kkondaehee.’ I truly had no other intention, but my desire to make the show fun went overboard. If any ZEROs felt uncomfortable, I sincerely apologize. I’m sorry. Let’s work on speaking better, Sung Hanbin.”
And again, issued another apology saying, “To the Zerose who must have been really shocked, I only feel deeply sorry. I’ll take this incident as a chance to reflect once more on the parts where I was lacking and ignorant, and I promise I’ll make every effort to be even more careful with my actions going forward.”
