Actress Cha Ye Ryun has been caught up in allegations that she was a school bully. Her agency quickly drew a line, saying the claims are groundless, but the impact of the online post, which describes specific incidents of alleged violence including a ruptured eardrum, has not died down.

On October 30, her agency HB Entertainment responded to the school bullying allegations that spread mainly online, releasing an official statement saying, “After checking, it is groundless.” The agency reportedly responded very quickly after the claims first surfaced. Cha Ye Ryun is currently overseas.

The allegations began with a post uploaded to an online community on October 29. The writer, identified as “A,” presented a graduation album photo as evidence and claimed, “The real face of actress C from OO Middle School is a former school bully and delinquent.”

A wrote, “Every time I see her on TV or YouTube smiling, or being consumed as a good wife, a good mother, and a healthy image who cooks well, I feel pain.” A also claimed, “Because of that person, I still go to a psychiatric clinic, take medication, and live with depression and anxiety.”

The writer claimed that C repeatedly bullied them behind the classroom, in the restroom, and in the hallway of a building near the school. According to the post, C allegedly dragged A to a building hallway near the school after class and beat them, mostly hitting A’s cheeks, saying “my eardrum was torn and my cheeks swelled up.” The post also described an incident during a school picnic in which C allegedly forced A to swap sneakers with C’s high heels, along with verbal abuse and threats. A warned, “If she insists it’s not true, or talks nonsense like ‘I don’t remember’ or ‘it’s groundless,’ I will submit testimonies from classmates and additional evidence.”

The writer did not name the person, but the details, including being born in 1985, the initial C, and being a married actress with a healthy image who cooks well, led netizens to point to Cha Ye Ryun.

Despite the agency’s quick denial, the reaction has been strong. Many netizens have flooded the comment sections of Cha Ye Ryun’s YouTube channel and other social media, demanding explanations. Comments include “If it’s true, it’s the real-life version of ‘The Glory,'” “She needs to clearly explain it herself,” “I hope it’s not true,” and “I’ll stay neutral and watch.” Others urged caution, saying “It’s dangerous to pile on and witch-hunt before anything is confirmed,” and “The agency’s official position is that it’s groundless, so we should stop speculating.”

Some netizens also claim that comments asking for an explanation or questioning the allegations are being deleted in real time, with remarks such as “They’re deleting comments at the speed of light” and “Deleting comments is even more suspicious.” This has not been confirmed.

With the writer saying more evidence will be submitted, attention is now on whether Cha Ye Ryun will speak out herself.
