Choi Jung Woo has passed away.
According to sources in the entertainment industry, Choi Jung Woo died on May 27.
The exact cause of death has not been disclosed per many sources.
After the news gained attention, Choi Jung Woo’s agency, Bless ENT, spoke to Star News on May 27 and stated, “We received news of his passing this morning. He was elderly and had existing health conditions. Last year, he struggled with facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy), which was difficult for him.”
It had been reported that the late actor had also experienced panic disorder and depression. However, the agency added, “The exact cause of death is currently being confirmed.”
Choi Jung Woo made his debut in 1975 with the play “The Life of an Actor.” He also began working as a voice actor in 1980 at a broadcasting station called TBC.
He went on to appear in numerous dramas, including the “Quiz From God” series, “Master’s Sun,” “The Legend of the Blue Sea,” and “Sisyphus: The Myth.” Most recently, he remained active in projects such as JTBC’s “The Tale of Lady Ok,” KBS2’s “Who is She,” and the film “Project Silence.”
The shocking news of Choi Jung Woo’s sudden death has saddened fans. Many remember him for his performances in some of the best and most talked about Kdramas, which many loved and watched growing up.
His wake is being held in Room 5 of the funeral hall at Gimpo Uri Hospital. The funeral will take place on the morning of May 29.
