IU And Byeon Woo Seok Set To Lead Upcoming 2025 Drama

Singer and actress IU will star alongside Byeon Woo Seok in the upcoming MBC drama “21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife” (working title)!

Kakao Entertainment confirmed their casting for this project, which is set in a fictional constitutional monarchy in modern-day South Korea. The story centers on a romance between a wealthy woman frustrated by her “commoner” status and a prince who, despite his royal blood, feels empty due to his lack of possessions and freedom.

IU plays Seong Hee Joo, the brilliant and competitive second daughter of the nation’s most powerful conglomerate. Her seemingly insignificant commoner status becomes a hurdle in her life, leading her to cross paths with Grand Prince Ian, played by Byeon Woo Seok. Ian is a prince who has lived a restrained life due to his royal status but begins to change after meeting Hee Joo.

This marks IU’s return to television, known for her acclaimed roles in My Mister and Hotel Del Luna. Byeon Woo Seok, fresh off Lovely Runner and Strong Girl Namsoon, will take on the role of a modern-day royal, showcasing a new side to his acting.
