Actor Jang Dong Yoon and actress Kim Seung Yoon‘s marriage news has brought renewed attention to the crowdfunding campaign behind their film “Nurukk,” Jang Dong Yoon’s directorial debut and Kim Seung Yoon’s starring project, sparking mixed reactions among fans.

Ahead of its release, “Nurukk” ran a crowdfunding campaign for about a month, from November to December of last year, raising approximately 26.35 million won. Supporters received various rewards depending on their contribution amount, and those who donated 100,000 won or more were reportedly given a ticket to a “Nurukk” GV event along with a chance to attend a fan signing session with Jang Dong Yoon.

With the couple’s marriage now public, some fans expressed disappointment over the funding process, since the relationship between Jang Dong Yoon and Kim Seung Yoon was unknown to the public at the time. Questions have been raised over the fact that Kim Seung Yoon starred in a film Jang Dong Yoon directed, funded through a campaign aimed at fans that included a Jang Dong Yoon signing event among its rewards. Some voiced discomfort online, with reactions such as, “Isn’t this deceiving fans?”, “So we funded a project where he films with his girlfriend?”, “If I had known it was a project with his girlfriend, I wouldn’t have funded it,” and “Shouldn’t fans have been told?”
