Upcoming Kdrama Reveals They’ll Scrap All Of This Popular Actor’s Scenes And Recast His Role After His DUI
Actor Yoon Ji On (35) has been caught for drunk driving and motorcycle theft, leading to his mid-production exit from the drama “I Got a Baby,” putting the production in a state of emergency.
According to SPOTV News on the 18th of September, Channel A’s new drama “I Got a Baby” (written by So Hae Won, directed by Kim Jin Seong) canceled its scheduled filming on the 20th.
Later, a source from the production company confirmed the fact that they’ll reshoot his scenes and cast a new actor.
“I Got a Baby” is a romantic comedy that unfolds from a one-night escapade between two men and women who said there would be no marriage in this life. The drama, starring Choi Jin Hyuk, Oh Yeon Seo, Kim Da Som, and Yoon Ji On, had been filming since July. However, Yoon Ji On, who played the supporting male lead, got into a problematic situation on the 16th by drunkenly riding a motorcycle parked on the street.
In the drama, Yoon Ji On plays Lee Min Wook, the childhood friend of the female lead Oh Yeon Seo (as Jang Hee Won) and is in a tense love triangle with Choi Jin Hyuk (as Kang Doo Jun). His character has a romantic storyline with Oh Yeon Seo and a rivalry with Choi Jin Hyuk, meaning he had already filmed a significant portion of the drama.
However, after being caught for drunk driving combined with motorcycle theft, his exit became unavoidable, and the production immediately decided on his mid-production departure. The production team is looking for a replacement actor and organizing the situation to minimize disruptions to filming.
“I Got a Baby” canceled filming on the 20th, which included scenes with Yoon Ji On. The decision prioritized reorganizing the cast and production over continuing filming. Rain forecasted for the 20th was also cited as a contributing factor. However, filming scheduled for the 19th, which did not include Yoon Ji On’s scenes, will proceed as planned.
Yoon Ji On admitted to motorcycle theft and drunk driving in a lengthy post on his social media. He stated, “I committed a wrong by drunkenly riding a motorcycle parked on the street to the point where I don’t even remember it. I have admitted all charges and am currently assessing the situation regarding the damage caused.”
He continued, “I am truly ashamed for causing pain and disappointment to many who supported me due to my reckless actions. I apologize. I will live with caution and remorse to ensure this never happens again. I will sincerely cooperate with the upcoming investigation and accept any resulting penalties. There is no excuse.”
