Known Actor Talks Feeling Alone Undergoing Surgery For Liver Hemangioma With His Family Living Overseas

Beloved actor Kwon Sang Woo reveals he underwent surgery for a liver hemangioma and how he felt alone because his family was overseas.

On January 20, Shin Dong Yeop YouTube channel show featured Kwon Sang Woo, Lee Yi Kyung, and Hwang Woo Seul Hye, the main cast of the movie Hitman 2.

During the episode, Lee Yi Kyung asked Shin Dong Yeop, who is known for his drinking habits, “Do you not get hangovers?” Shin Dong Yeop replied, “Not really.”

Kwon Sang Woo then shared, “I used to throw up after drinking, but once I started enjoying alcohol, that stopped. This is my first time revealing this, but the reason Hitman 2 filming was split into two parts is because I was diagnosed with a liver hemangioma during my annual health checkup.”

He continued, “My father passed away early from liver cancer. The doctor told me that if the tumor grew beyond 10cm, I would need open surgery, so I should consider removal once it reached 6cm. My family was all in the U.S., so I thought it was no big deal and underwent the surgery alone. This was right before Hitman 2. They showed me a photo where they had removed a portion of my liver about the size of a hand.”

Kwon Sang Woo added, “The doctor also said, ‘You have a large liver. Even after removing 30%, it’s still the size of a typical person’s liver.’ I stayed in the hospital for quite some time, and with my family overseas, I felt very lonely.”

Despite this, he revealed, “I recovered and immediately went into filming Hitman 2.” Lee Yi Kyung, hearing this for the first time, praised him, saying, “You must have felt fatigued, yet you put in the same energy as always.”

In the same show, Lee Yi Kyung also addressed name dropping his ex-girlfriend during an award show and actress Hwang Woo Seul Hye boldly revealed she’s currently dating.
