Popular Actor Talks About Going Viral For Mentioning His Ex-Girlfriend During An Award Show
Actor Lee Yi Kyung addressed his mention of ex-girlfriend Jung In Sun during his award acceptance speech.
On the 20th of January, the YouTube channel “Jjanhyeong Shin Dong Yeob” featured a video with Kwon Sang Woo, Lee Yi Kyung, and Hwang Woo Seul Hye, the main cast of the movie “Hitman 2” (directed by Choi Won Seop), as guests.
During the episode, Kwon Sang Woo commented to Lee Yi Kyung, “You went to receive an award yesterday and mentioned your ex-girlfriend. I thought you were a Hollywood star or something.”
Previously, on December 28, 2024, Lee Yi Kyung won the Best Actor award in the Mid-Length Drama category for “Marry My Husband” at the “2024 SeoulCon APAN Star Awards” held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Art Hall in Seoul. On the same night, Jung In Sun received the Best Actress award in the Short and Web Drama category for “Opening: The Grand Shining Hotel.” Lee Yi Kyung’s acceptance speech, in which he mentioned Jung In Sun, gained significant attention, as the two publicly confirmed their relationship in April 2018 but broke up just two months later.
Lee Yi Kyung, with an embarrassed smile, explained, “We were in the same space. It’s been a long time since we dated, and we were publicly together back then, so I mentioned it. Afterward, I got more messages about my speech than about congratulating me on the award.”
Shin Dong Yeob offered some words of support, saying, “Everyone in this world has met someone before meeting someone else. I really can’t understand why people make an issue of that. It’s all part of trial and error, figuring out, ‘This person is a better fit for me.’”
Lee Yi Kyung candidly shared, “I thought I’d be married in my 20s, but now I’m nearing 40.”
