Another Beloved Korean Veteran Actor, Lee Moon Soo, Passes Away
A couple of days after “national actor” Lee Soonjae passed away, another veteran actor, Lee Moon Soo, has also passed away.
On the 29th of November, the Korea Theatre Actors Association delivered the news of Lee Moon Soo’s passing. He was 76 years old.
Lim Daeil, chairman of the Korea Theatre Actors Association, expressed condolences, saying, “Veteran actor Lee Moon Soo valued honesty as an actor more than glamour. He was an actor who showed his own deep acting that transcended generations and works.”
Born in March 1949 in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, Lee Moon Soo worked as a civil servant to support his family, but because he had a desire for acting, he entered the Seoul Institute of the Arts and began acting in earnest. He stepped on stage while working with the National Theater Company in 1989, and during his time there, he appeared in major works such as “The Crucible,” “The Problematic Human Yeonsan,” “Death of a Salesman,” “1984,” “The Seagull,” and “King Lear.”
In particular, in works such as “Death of a Salesman,” “I Love You,” and “The Crucible,” he had stood on stage together with Lee Soonjae, who passed away on the 25th, showing teamwork with him.
Lee Moon Soo did not only work on stage—he also left a strong presence in films such as “Holy Daddy,” “Beyond the Years,” “Going by the Book,” and “Killer Toon,” as well as in dramas such as “Signal” and “Daemul.”
As the news of Lee Moon Soo’s passing was delivered, the sorrow within the entertainment industry continues. Earlier, on the 25th, actor Lee Soonjae passed away at the age of 91, and not long after he went to his eternal rest, the industry had to say goodbye to another veteran actor, Lee Moon Soo.
Meanwhile, Lee Moon Soo’s funeral hall has been set up at Hanyang University Hospital Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 8:20 a.m. on December 1, and the burial site is Eden Memorial Park.
May he rest in peace.
