Lee Si Young’s Ex-Husband Says He Didn’t Consent to Embryo Use But Will Take Full Responsibility as a Father
Actress Lee Si Young has revealed that she is pregnant with her ex-husband’s child, despite not obtaining his consent. Her ex-husband, referred to as Mr. A, responded by saying he will “take full responsibility as a father.”
On July 8, Mr. A spoke to Dispatch and said, “As Lee Si Young stated, we underwent IVF five years ago for a second child. However, due to differences in personality and other reasons, we naturally ended up divorcing.”
He explained that he was opposed to the pregnancy after their divorce, but Lee Si Young was firm in her decision. She proceeded with IVF treatment on her own, successfully becoming pregnant with their second child without his consent.
Mr. A admitted, “It’s true that I didn’t agree to the second pregnancy. However, since the child has now been conceived, I plan to fulfill my responsibilities as a father. I’ll cooperate in anything needed for pregnancy, childbirth, and raising the child.”
He added, “Even after separating from Lee Si Young, we’ve regularly communicated regarding the upbringing of our first child. It’ll be the same with the second. Both of us will do our best as a mother and father.”
Earlier that day, Lee Si Young revealed on Instagram, “I am currently pregnant.” She said that around the time her relationship with her ex-husband was coming to an end, the 5-year frozen embryo storage period was about to expire, and she had to make a decision.
Lee continued, “I made the choice to proceed with the embryo implantation just before the disposal deadline. Though my former partner didn’t agree, I intend to take full responsibility for the decision I made.”
She explained that she couldn’t bring herself to discard the embryo, and added, “Even though many challenges and complicated possibilities may lie ahead, I believe this choice is meaningful and worthwhile.”
Lee Si Young married businessman Mr. A in September 2017, and they have a son named Jung Yoon. Earlier this year, she filed for divorce mediation with the Seoul Family Court, and the divorce was officially announced in March.
Lee Si Young’s actions have come under heavy fire as she stated herself that her husband didn’t agree to do this.
