Actor Na In Woo (30) addressed speculation and rumors surrounding his military service exemption, which came after receiving a grade 4 supplementary service classification and waiting for three years.

During the press conference for MBC’s new drama “Motel California” held on January 9 in Sangam-dong, Seoul, Na In Woo apologized, saying, “I’m sorry to address such questions in this setting.” He explained, “The first article was published during filming, and I was not in a position to respond immediately. By the time I received the message, it was already late at night.”

Regarding his silence on the matter, he said, “Since it’s a sensitive issue, I should have made a quick decision, but I chose silence instead.” He became emotional as he added, “Many people like my bright, energetic, and positive image, so even if I was struggling or in pain, I felt I couldn’t show that side of myself. I tried to appeal with a brighter image.”

Na In Woo did not elaborate on the exact reasoning for his military exemption and said, “Although I cannot disclose personal reasons or medical conditions, I wanted to be honest in hopes that people would see me as I am.” Some Korean media outlets claim this indirectly suggested that psychological or mental health issues were the reason for his grade 4 supplementary service classification.
