Despite Tearfully Apology, Park Sung Hoon To Step Down From Upcoming Drama With YoonA
Actor Park Sung Hoon, embroiled in controversy over the “AV porn poster upload,” will be stepping down from the drama “The Tyrant’s Chef.”
On the 11th of January, Park Sung Hoon’s agency, BH Entertainment, confirmed to TV Report, “It is true that Park Sung Hoon will no longer be part of ‘The Tyrant’s Chef.'” It was revealed that after discussions between Park Sung Hoon’s side and the production company Studio Dragon, they mutually decided that continuing with the project would not be feasible.
“The Tyrant’s Chef” is a fantasy survival romance about a French chef who time-slips and meets a king infamous as both a ruthless tyrant and a gourmet. The series, which initially cast Park Sung Hoon and Im YoonA as leads, drew attention even before airing due to their collaboration—Park Sung Hoon being in high demand after hits like The Glory, The Queen of Tears, and Squid Game 2, and Im YoonA’s reputation as a rom-com queen.
However, the project became overshadowed by controversy when Park Sung Hoon recently faced backlash for posting an image parodying Squid Game on his social media—a Japanese adult video cover featuring explicit nudity. Although the post was deleted shortly after being uploaded, it spread quickly online, sparking outrage.
Park Sung Hoon’s agency initially explained that the upload was an accident, stating, “Park Sung Hoon mistakenly posted the image while checking his direct messages (DMs).” Despite this, skepticism persisted because the image appeared to have been saved and then uploaded, rather than re-shared directly from a DM, making the explanation less convincing.
The agency later clarified, “Park Sung Hoon noticed the AV cover had potential issues after receiving it via DM and intended to forward it to a company representative. However, he accidentally saved and uploaded the image instead.”
Park Sung Hoon himself publicly apologized, saying, “I deeply regret my mistake and want to sincerely apologize for causing discomfort. I stand here today with a heavy heart, knowing my error has tarnished the efforts of many on the production team. I feel truly upset and remorseful.”
