Carrying memories of the late actor who had served as their wedding godfather, Kim Tae Hee and Rain paid their final respects at the funeral altar of the late Ahn Sung Ki.

On the 9th of January, photos of Kim Tae Hee and Rain visiting the funeral hall where Ahn Sung Ki’s memorial was set up were shared across online communities and social media. Dressed in black suits, the couple drew attention, holding hands tightly on their way.

The bond between Kim Tae Hee, Rain, and the late actor was especially meaningful. Ahn Sung Ki served as the godfather and wedding witness at the couple’s wedding in 2017. Prior to that, in 2014, he also attended Rain’s Catholic baptism as his godfather, continuing their special connection.

Korea’s representative “national actor” Ahn Sung Ki was laid to rest on the 9th. A funeral Mass for the late actor was held at 8 a.m. at Myeongdong Cathedral in Jung District, Seoul, followed by a funeral ceremony for film professionals at 9 a.m. After the ceremony, the procession moved to his burial site in Yangpyeong Byeolgeurida. At the funeral, Jung Woo Sung carried the portrait of the deceased, Lee Jung Jae carried the medal, and Seol Kyung Gu, Park Chul Min, Yoo Ji Tae, Park Hae Il, Jo Woo Jin, and Ju Ji Hoon served as pallbearers.

The late actor was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019 and underwent treatment. He was declared in remission in 2020, but the illness later recurred, and he focused on recovery. On December 30, he collapsed after choking on food and was hospitalized unconscious in the intensive care unit. He passed away six days later, on the 5th of January.
