It has been confirmed that reports about “advertising contract terminations” surrounding actor Kim Seon Ho, who recently became the center of a tax controversy, were partially misreported.

According to coverage of the advertising industry on the 6th of February, the alleged contract termination with the skincare brand La Roche-Posay, which was mentioned in some circles, was found to have stemmed from a misunderstanding related to a YouTube video upload.

Although his name was recently mentioned on a list of advertisers allegedly distancing themselves, it was determined that the contract had actually already ended four years ago.

On the same day, media reports also stated that the health functional food brand Nutrididay will continue its contract with Kim Seon Ho as planned. Nutrididay selected Kim Seon Ho as its exclusive advertising model for one year last summer. A representative said, “We plan to continue model activities as originally scheduled until the contract expiration.”

Another advertising industry official explained, “Some past contract terminations have recently been linked to the controversy, leading to misunderstandings as if they were new contract cancellations,” adding that most currently valid contracts are understood to be proceeding normally.

Previously, on the 1st, a media report raised tax evasion suspicions involving Kim Seon Ho. The allegation claimed that he operated a one-person corporation separately from his agency using his home address in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and that the company was effectively a paper company.

It has been reported that Kim Seon Ho has voluntarily taken corrective action regarding the controversy surrounding the one-person agency. Past corporate card usage, salary payments to family members, and vehicles registered under the corporation have all been returned, and additional personal income tax has been paid on earnings received through the corporation beyond the corporate tax already paid. The corporation is reportedly now in the process of being closed.

His agency Fantagio released an official statement saying, “Kim Seon Ho is currently active under an exclusive contract signed personally with Fantagio, and he is faithfully complying with legal and tax procedures related to his current contract and activities.” The agency added, “The one-person corporation mentioned in reports was established for theater production and related activities, not for the purpose of tax evasion, and we clearly state that there are no issues.”

Meanwhile, the play Kim Seon Ho is set to appear in will open as scheduled. The production team of the play “Secret Passage” stated the previous day, “As of now, preparations are proceeding as planned without changes.”
