Highly Anticipated Upcoming SBS Drama Faces Issues Following Song Young Kyu’s DUI, What Will Happen To His Scenes?

After the shocking and surprising news of popular supporting actor Song Young Kyu’s DUI, several projects are in a sticky position!

On July 25, a representative from the highly anticipated upcoming SBS drama “The Winning Try” stated, “the drama is a fully pre-produced drama, and filming was completed in March. The production team was also caught off guard and deeply regrets the situation, which we learned about through media reports just ahead of the drama’s premiere.”

They added, “Song Young Kyu appears in a supporting role in the drama. The upcoming episode, which will air this week, has already been finalized and distributed to global OTT platforms, so immediate editing is not possible. We ask for your understanding.”

The production further noted, “However, we are currently discussing editing his future appearances to the extent that it doesn’t affect the storyline.”

Previously, the Yongin Dongbu Police Station revealed that Song Young Kyu was sent to the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office without detention at the end of last month. He was caught driving under the influence on June 19 at around 11 p.m., traveling from Giheung-gu to his residence in Cheoin-gu, Yongin.

Following the incident, Song Young Kyu has stepped down from his current stage play “Shakespeare in Love” after his final performance today. Both ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama “i-Shopping” and SBS’s “The Winning Try” plan to minimize his screen time as much as possible.
