Four Of The Biggest Korean Hallyu Actors Confirmed For Upcoming Adaptation Of The “Remarried Empress”

The first group photo of the four hally actors leading the live-action adaptation of Remarried Empress has been revealed.

On the 19th of June, Disney+ announced that it would exclusively release the original series Remarried Empress, based on the globally beloved webtoon of the same name.

Remarried Empress is based on a webtoon that recorded a cumulative 2.6 billion views worldwide as of December 2024 and sparked a global sensation. The story follows Navier (played by Shin Min Ah), the perfect empress of the Eastern Empire, who is handed a divorce notice by Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji Hoon) after he falls for the runaway slave Rashta (Lee Se Young). In response, Navier accepts the divorce but requests permission to remarry Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong Suk) of the Western Kingdom, setting off a grand romantic fantasy saga.

Shin Min Ah plays Navier, the Empress of the Eastern Empire, portraying her as a strong and self-reliant woman with irreplaceable charm. Joo Ji Hoon, known for global hits such as Trauma Center and Lighting Store, takes on the role of Emperor Sovieshu, exuding a powerful charisma as the absolute ruler of the Eastern Empire.

Lee Jong Suk, who has led many hit romance dramas, plays Heinrey, the crown prince of the Western Kingdom with hidden secrets. Lee Se Young, known for her strong presence, portrays Rashta, the beautiful runaway slave whose pure smile masks a growing ambition.

Supporting cast members include Lee Bong Ryun as Eliza, the head maid of the Western Palace where Navier stays; Chae Dae Hoon, who sparked the “Hak family” syndrome in A Shoulder to Cry On, as Heinrey’s secretary McKenna; Park Ho San as Loteshu, Rashta’s former master; and Jung Young Joo as Albani, who adopts Rashta as the daughter of her noble house. Nam Yoon Ho plays Rant, Sovieshu’s secretary.

The production team released a script reading photo showing the four leads performing with the same intensity as they would on set. Their perfect visual synergy raises anticipation for how the live-action adaptation of Remarried Empress will come to life.

Ju Ji Hoon said, “I’m happy to be part of such a powerful story universe, and I also feel a strong sense of responsibility. I believe we’ll be able to deliver a fresh dose of dopamine.” Lee Jong Suk added, “I was really excited when I heard that ‘Remarried Empress’ was being adapted into a live-action. I think it’s going to be a really fun and fresh project.”

Remarried Empress is directed by Jo Soo Won, known for I Can Hear Your Voice and Pinocchio, with a script by Yeon Ji Na and Hyun Choong Yeol, who wrote The Uncanny Counter, OCN’s highest-rated drama. It will be released exclusively on Disney+ in 2026.
