Some Of The Biggest Names In The Korean Industry Join This Highly Anticipated Upcoming Kdrama

Naver Webtoon’s “Remarried Empress” will be produced as a series starring some of the biggest Hallyu actors: Shin Min Ah, Ju Ji Hoon, Lee Jong Suk, and Lee Se Young.

Based on the web novel and webtoon, “Remarried Empress” is a grand romance fantasy epic that unfolds as Navier, the empress of the Eastern Empire, is informed of divorce by Emperor Sovieshu. Instead of objecting, she accepts it and requests permission to remarry Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom. The background of the divorce involves Rashta, a runaway slave, entering as Sovieshu’s concubine, igniting full-blown conflict. Since its serialization in 2018, the web novel has enjoyed record-breaking popularity and was later expanded into a webtoon. Since 2019, it has been translated into ten languages, captivating global readers and establishing itself as a global IP.

Shin Min Ah has been confirmed to play Navier, the empress of the Eastern Empire praised for her brilliant mind and innate grace. Ju Ji Hoon will take on the role of Sovieshu, the emperor and symbol of absolute power, and Navier’s husband. Lee Jong Suk will portray Heinrey, the prince of the Western Kingdom who hides a secret. Lee Se Young will play Rashta, a former runaway slave who covets the position of empress.

Directing is Jo Soo Won, loved for his delicate emotional portrayal and mise-en-scène in works such as I Can Hear Your Voice, Pinocchio, and Thirty But Seventeen. The script will be written by writers Yeo Ji Na and Hyun Choong Yeol, who wrote The Uncanny Counter, which recorded OCN’s highest ratings. Production will be handled by Studio N, known for heavyweight IP works such as Jeong Nyeon, adding credibility.

“Remarried Empress” is set to faithfully recreate the universe of the original work that has thrilled fans worldwide. It will captivate viewers as a full-fledged romance fantasy equipped with mise-en-scène, scale, and narrative completeness, setting a new standard for the genre. The broadcasting schedule for “Remarried Empress” is undecided.
