“Squid Game 2” Director Says He Felt Happy Every Time A Character Died During Filming For 2nd Season, Here Is Why
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk of ‘Squid Game‘ Season 2 honestly revealed, “Filming was tough.”
Recently, the Netflix original series ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 World Premiere event was held. Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, Wi Ha Joon, Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Kang Ae Shim, Lee Seok Hwan, Jo Yu Ri, and director Hwang Dong Hyuk. attended the event and shared various stories.

Im Siwan, who has newly joined ‘Squid Game’ Season 2, said, “As a huge fan of Season 1, I was looking forward to when Season 2 would come out, and when I heard the casting news, I remember being so moved that I got goosebumps. I hope that Season 2, filled with my fandom, can come out. I’m waiting for it as many people have been waiting for it. I’m looking forward to watching it as a viewer and a fan when it comes out.”
Kang Ha Neul then described the character as, “A bright, overly intimacy-filled character who wants to radiate positive energy, and I think I’ll be able to show that character getting confused and worn out before the game.” H
Wi Ha Joon said, “We’ve been together since Season 1 and Season 2, and if you watch Season 2, you’ll understand why everyone is proud and confident about the work. I hope you enjoy it.”
Director Hwang Dong-hyeok said, “Of course, it was a good and happy memory. Looking at the actors now, I feel dizzy thinking, ‘How did they film with them?’ I feel like I suddenly went back to the set.”
The director added, “at the same time, because filming was tough every day, I thought, ‘I wish (the characters) would die quickly.’ I was happy every time someone passed away.”
He added, “I’d say ‘It’s a shame that today is the last day and I won’t be able to see you again [to the actors],’ but inside I was happy” making everyone laugh.
Meanwhile, Season 2 of ‘Squid Game’ aired on Netflix earlier today.
