tvN Finally Issues Response To What Might Happen To “Signal 2” Following Choi Jin Woong’s Retirement
With actor Cho Jin Woong announcing his retirement, the production team for the tvN drama “Signal 2,” in which he stars, has released a statement regarding its broadcast schedule.
On the 19th of December, the production team for tvN’s “Signal 2” stated, “‘Signal 2 is a production we’ve been diligently preparing for, with the goal of releasing in the summer of 2026, out of gratitude to the viewers who have waited for us for the past 10 years. From planning to production, countless staff, actors, and related personnel worked together.” They added, “In order to preserve the value of ‘Signal,’ we will do our best to find the optimal solution for the show and its viewers, even if it takes some time.”
“Signal 2” is the sequel to the drama “Signal,” which aired in 2016 to commemorate tvN’s 10th anniversary. Kim Eun-hee, who also penned the script, continued to write the drama, and the series stars Cho Jin Woong, Kim Hye Soo, and Lee Je Hoon. Filming concluded in August of last year and is slated for a 2026 release. Due to the immense popularity of the original series, news of a sequel has garnered significant attention.
Recently, Dispatch accused Choi Jin Woong of hiding a very troubled past as a delinquent. His agency has since admitted to some allegations while denying the sexual assault allegations presented by Dispatch. Then, the actor himself announced his retirement shocking fans and the industry. Since then, more testimonies of his alleged violent behavior made headlines.
With the production team is issuing an official statement approximately 13 days after Cho Jin Woong’s retirement announcement, attention is focused on the future broadcast and programming direction of “Signal 2.”
