Famous Idol-Actor Reveals What It Was Really Like Filming Kiss Scenes With Park Min Young

Yook Sung Jae has shared behind-the-scenes stories about his kiss scene with Park Min Young.

On the night of November 5, Park Min Young and Yook Sung Jae, who worked together in the drama “Nine to Six,” appeared on SBS’s “Geojang Hang Jun.”

Yook Sung Jae explained, “In the drama, I played a younger man who approaches the other person actively, and there were lots of kiss scenes.” However, he said he is “not good at kiss scenes and hasn’t done many,” and shared his experience filming with Park Min Young. He described the kiss scene with her, saying, “Even though I was the one approaching, it felt like I was being drawn in. I didn’t pay attention to whether I looked pretty on camera, but the result was better than expected.”

The panelists suspected that they had prepared the kiss angle beforehand, but Park Min Young said, “We didn’t prepare it,” and felt wronged. She explained that since every co-star’s lips are different, it can’t be set up in advance. Park Min Young said, “How would I know beforehand?” and laughed in disbelief. She said the first thing she considers in a kiss scene is how the scene looks within the work, adding, “It must be finished as a pretty picture. You also must not press the lips down too hard,” and pointing out even the control of force when lips touch.

The difference in pay between films and dramas also became a topic. Yook Sung Jae was amazed that Park Min Young has appeared in only one film. Park Min Young said, “I appeared in one horror film as a rookie. In the past, there weren’t many films centered on women.” Yook Sung Jae then asked, “If you appear in one film, can you earn as much as a 12-episode drama?” and Park Min Young answered, “No.” Yook Sung Jae joked, “I think I came to the wrong place.”

After hearing the answer, Song Eun Yi wrote “money-obsessed” under Yook Sung Jae’s special notes. Yook Sung Jae tried to recover, saying, “If you work with Jang Hang Jun, don’t you get honor instead of money?” and Kim Pung pressed him with, “So you have a desire for honor?”, causing laughter.

Park Min Young also shared how she feels her popularity overseas. When Song Eun Yi asked how much she feels her global popularity, Park Min Young modestly said, “My recognition has built up through several works.” Her drama “Marry My Husband” previously ranked 2nd in global viewership on Amazon Prime Video. Kim Pung chimed in, “Everyone recognizes you,” and Park Min Young admitted her much higher recognition, saying, “They recognize me from the hotel check-in.”
