“Our Unwritten Seoul” Episodes 1 And 2 Review- Better Than I Could’ve Ever Imagined

“Our Unwritten Seoul” has premiered recently, let us talk about the premiere episodes and why its hands down one of the best premiere episodes of a 2025 Kdrama so far.

“Our Unwritten Seoul” comes from the director of some pretty famous Kdramas and the writer of one of the most heartbreaking kdramas made, “Youth of May,” which I loved, if my memory serves me right.

Just knowing its the same screenwriter behind “Youth of May” was enough to put me at ease. Its a total of 12 episodes, and I am pretty sure we’re in for a ride.

So, the drama is about twins who exchange their lives when one of them is about to commit su-cide or do something very horrible to herself. I just loved how Mi-Ji knew deep down inside that leaving her sister and returning to her town would essentially be one of the worst decisions she’d ever make. She did so well going back to save her life.

I loved the sweet approach to the premiere and how it successfully establishes the characters and shares their traits without coming off too strong. It does a marvelous job of showing instead of telling. You can easily distinguish between both twins if you’re paying attention, there is some exposition, as all premiere episodes have, but its done so well. I appreciate it whenever I see it.

I have a feeling I’ll love this series and it’ll be one of my fav of 2025. This year has been slightly below average in terms of output. There are projects coming out consistently, but very few have captured my attention. I am glad this project is here to make summer more interesting.

I think many have pointed this out already, but I LOVE the camera work. I’ve been watching kdramas for over 10 years, and I’ve rarely seen such camera work on such types of projects. This is more of laid laid-back life drama, and these types of dramas rarely use such dynamic camera work. Director Park Shin-Woo is trying something different and I appreciate that. I don’t know who’s working on the camera and the editing but they’re doing a marvelous job. Its so unique and I think it’ll become one of the drama’s defining features.

Not only is it well-done, but it meshes so well with the drama’s atmosphere, it enhances the watching experience, not deduct from it. Such camera work can be tricky because, and especially with such types of dramas, it can easily overshadow whatever you’re making… but its just right. Marvelous work on the production part.

I love Bo Young with Jinyoung already, I just can’t contain my excitement, they’re so cute together. I think Jinyoung has the potential to truly become one of the most established hallyu actors in the future if he picks his projects right.

Now onto our love, Miss Park Bo Young, who is essentially playing four characters. If that isn’t a testament to how good of an actress she is, I don’t know what is. Bo Young has been leaning towards very heartfelt, deep drama script,s and I am so here for it. How can you do such a good job at playing two distinct twins? And then play two extra characters where the twins exchange lives? The talent this woman has.

I also love just how Ho-Su can immediately tell who is who, I thought that was a beautiful plot point. It makes for a more interesting watching experience.

I am guessing both characters will learn to appreciate life more by living each other’s lives, but I wonder how the screenwriter will handle the inevitable switch back and the fallout it’ll cause. I am guessing each twin will fall and form a relationship with Ho-Su and Se-Jin. I wonder if Se-Jin will learn soon that he is talking to the wrong twin or not.

Overall, a marvelous start, tightly woven script and amazing camera work. Can’t wait for next week’s episodes.
