Chef Jung Shin Woo Passes Away At The Age Of 58
Chef Jung Shin Woo (real name Jung Dae Il), a former MBC 27th open recruitment talent, has passed away.
According to the entertainment industry on the 18th of January, Chef Jung Shin Woo died early that morning at the age of 58.
No separate memorial altar will be set up for the deceased. After the encoffining procedure at the funeral hall of Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital in Gangnam, the funeral procession will take place on the 20th.
Chef Jung Shin Woo was diagnosed with thymic cancer in 2014 and had consistently shared his battle with the illness through a blog. In particular, up until October last year, he shared his own cancer-fighting meals, giving hope to many. News of his sudden passing has left fans in deep sorrow.
Chef Jung Shin Woo made his debut in 1988 through the musical “Gospel,” which brought him public recognition. He later began his television acting career through the SBS one-act drama “Attorney Park Bong Sook,” and went on to fully pursue acting with the KBS miniseries “Applause.” In 1998, he was selected as part of MBC’s 27th open recruitment of talents.
Alongside his acting career, he built professional expertise in the food field, completing courses in table and food styling, temple cuisine, advanced French cuisine, and royal court cuisine. He worked as a chef and manager at restaurants in Hannam-dong, Itaewon, Samcheong-dong, and Hongdae, and later opened “Plate Kitchen Studio” in Jamwon-dong.
