“Was It A Bit Excessive?” Kim Jong Kook Removes New Vlog After It Shows His Wife’s Silhouette
Singer and broadcaster Kim Jong Kook has turned his newly uploaded vlog private after viewers pointed out that his wife’s silhouette appeared in the video. This move has since sparked mixed reactions online.
On October 9, Kim Jong Kook uploaded a video on his YouTube channel. The video showed him working out alone at 6 a.m. in a hotel gym during his honeymoon in Paris, France.
Even on the second day of his honeymoon, Kim was seen sticking to his fitness routine. He said, “I’ve often been asked if I would still work out on my honeymoon. For me, it’s completely natural. Most hotels have fitness facilities. Some ask if working out causes arguments, but I just go while my wife is asleep.”
While his wife’s face was not revealed in the video, viewers noticed a glimpse of a slim female figure reflected in a window during a room tour segment. Kim Jong Kook had previously mentioned on a show that his wife had a “slim figure,” and comedian Yang Se Chan had also described her as “slim with square shoulders and tall,” which led netizens to speculate that the reflection might have been her.
Shortly after, however, the video was made private without explanation. Kim’s team has not commented on the reason behind the decision, leading to growing curiosity and speculation online.
Some netizens defended Kim’s action, saying, “He’s likely protecting his non-celebrity wife’s privacy,” and praised his effort to keep her completely out of the public eye. Others, however, argued, “He has already mentioned his wife and married life on broadcasts — it’s impossible to identify her from a silhouette,” adding, “His secrecy feels a bit excessive.”
On August 18, Kim Jong Kook announced his marriage through a handwritten letter posted on his fan café. Kim Jong Kook’s wedding was held privately at an undisclosed venue in Seoul, attended only by close family and friends, with his close friend Yoo Jae Suk reportedly serving as the MC.
