Well-Known Variety Show PD Accused Of Sexual Assault, Denies Allegations
A well-known variety show PD (referred to as “A”) who has produced several popular entertainment series over the years has been accused of sexual assault.
According to a report on October 31, a staff member (“B”) who worked with A on a new season of a program filed a sexual assault complaint against him at the Mapo Police Station in August. It was reported that B completed a police statement and submitted CCTV footage and other evidence.
During questioning, B reportedly testified that after a company dinner, A made unwanted physical contact. When B rejected the behavior, A allegedly responded with insulting remarks and later unilaterally informed B of their removal from the show.
B also claimed to have participated in the show’s production from the planning stage through casting, filming, and pre-broadcast preparations, but was notified of their removal about two months before the show’s scheduled premiere.
In addition to the police complaint, B reportedly filed an internal report with the company regarding sexual harassment and workplace bullying. However, after an internal investigation, the company only acknowledged part of the sexual assault allegation and concluded there was no evidence of workplace bullying.
B’s legal representative stated to the media, “The victim suffered emotional distress and professional damage due to this incident. The sudden dismissal also created confusion among the production staff who had to fill the gap. B did not want to harm the program and initially sought to resolve the matter internally, requesting a thorough HR investigation, review of disciplinary measures, prevention of recurrence, and proper relief for the victim.”
They continued, “However, since the company’s response was insufficient, B had no choice but to pursue other legal actions.”
Meanwhile, PD A has reportedly denied all allegations. Both A and B have filed objections to the company’s partial acknowledgment of the sexual assault claim.
