“I Still Take Medication,” Popular Korean Comedian Shocks With Reveal Of Continuous Thyroid Cancer Treatment

Comedian Yang Se Chan has revealed that he has been battling papillary thyroid cancer.

On the most recent episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show “Problem Child in House,” married couple Park Si Eun and Jin Tae Hyun appear as guests.

During the episode, Yang Se Chan shares a deep connection with Jin Tae Hyun, who also experienced thyroid cancer. When Jin Tae Hyun mentioned that he had fully recovered to the point where he no longer needed medication, Yang Se Chan congratulated him and surprised everyone by saying, “I’m still taking medication.”

Yang Se Chan was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer 12 years ago and has been undergoing treatment since then. He recalled, “I went for a group health checkup with fellow comedians, and that’s when it was discovered. I got a call while rehearsing for ‘Comedy Big League.’”

He continued, “At that time, there wasn’t even time to be sad. My colleagues tried to cheer me up by joking around, saying, ‘Hey, he has cancer! Cancer, cancer!’” He shared how his fellow comedians tried to support him, touching the hearts of those who heard his story.

Yang Se Chan also drew attention by mentioning that fatigue was one of the early signs of his thyroid cancer. When Jin Tae Hyun said, “After the surgery, the fatigue went away. For three to four years, I used to feel exhausted every afternoon. Yes, I once slept for 10 hours straight.”

He continued, “After sleeping for 10 hours, I was on my way to work with Lee Yong Jin, and I kept yawning. My body was sending me signals,” sharing his personal experience that shocked everyone.

When Jin Tae Hyun added, “After the surgery, my lifestyle completely changed. I started eating healthy meals. Isn’t it the same for you?” Yang Se Chan humorously replied, “I ate healthy for about six months, but one day, I found myself eating jjamppong rice,” causing everyone to burst into laughter.
