Korean Agency Generating Over 10 Billion Won In Profits Yearly Faces Backlash For Job Posting, Says It Will Revise
Broadcaster Yoo Byung Jae’s company has announced plans to revise a controversial internship recruitment notice following criticism from online users.
Recently, a job posting from content production company Black Paper, which was co-founded by Yoo Byung Jae, drew attention across online communities. The company was recruiting an intern for a Project Manager (PM) position.
According to the posting, applicants were expected to work full-time for six months regardless of whether they would be offered a permanent position afterward. The requirements included an understanding of creator content, variety shows, and YouTube content formats, as well as basic image-editing and video-editing skills.
Preferred qualifications also included experience operating social media channels, creating content, and an interest in merchandise, emojis, and character intellectual property (IP). The posting explicitly stated that there were no plans to convert the internship into a full-time position.
The requirements sparked criticism online, with some users commenting that a PM role should not be an internship position and that the qualifications listed appeared more suitable for an experienced hire.
Particular criticism focused on the fact that the position offered no pathway to permanent employment despite the extensive responsibilities and qualifications requested.
In response, Yoo Gyu Seon, CEO of Black Paper, told local media that the posting may have been written in a way that caused misunderstandings.
“It seems the announcement may have been written in a way that could lead to misunderstandings,” he said, adding that the company plans to revise or remove the job posting.
Black Paper is a content production company jointly founded by Yoo Byung Jae and his former manager Yoo Gyu Seon. The company represents talents including Yoo Byung Jae, Jonathan Yiombi, Lee Eun Ji, and Patricia Yiombi.
