One Of The 3 Biggest End-Year Korean Music Festivals Cancels Photo Wall Event, Why?

The “2024 KBS Song Festival Global Festival” (hereafter referred to as “2024 KBS Song Festival”) has canceled its photo wall event.

On December 13, the production team announced, “Following discussions, we have decided to cancel the artists’ photo wall event, originally scheduled for 4 PM on December 20.” They explained that this decision was made to focus more on delivering a better live broadcast experience and asked for viewers’ understanding.

The KBS Song Festival (“KBS Gayo Daechukje”) is widely considered one of the top three year-end Korean music festivals. It is held alongside the SBS Gayo Daejeon and MBC Gayo Daejejeon. These three major year-end events showcase performances from top K-pop artists and groups, celebrating the year’s achievements in music while offering fans memorable stages and collaborations.

Earlier the same day, KBS also announced the cancellation of the red carpet event for the “2024 KBS Entertainment Awards,” citing the tumultuous political climate, including the proclamation and subsequent lifting of martial law by President Yoon Suk Yeol and the submission of his impeachment bill, as factors influencing their decision.

The “2024 KBS Song Festival” will take place on December 20 at 8:30 PM KST at the Ilsan KINTEX and will be broadcast live on KBS 2TV for 180 minutes. The event will be hosted by Zico, IVE’s Jang Wonyoung, and actor Kim Young Dae.
