The BTS Member Who Donated A Whopping 5 Billion Won To Establish A Treatment Center

BTS member Suga’s donation of 5 billion won [$3,561,596] has led to the establishment of the “Min Yoongi Treatment Center,” which has officially opened.

On the 30^th of September, Severance Hospital announced that it had opened the “Min Yoongi Treatment Center” on the first floor of Jejung Hall. At the opening ceremony, several directors were in attendance. Externally, Kim Yong Jik, President of the Korea Autism Society, was also present.

Suga revealed this past June that he had donated 5 billion won to Severance Hospital. This came as a result of continuous communication with Professor Cheon Geun Ah, a leading authority in child psychiatry at Severance Hospital.

While active with BTS, Suga has shown interest in mental health, psychological and behavioral issues, and particularly adolescent depression. Through multiple meetings with Professor Cheon, he developed a consensus on the need to establish a specialized treatment center for the long-term treatment of autism spectrum disorder symptoms.

The 5 billion won donated by Suga to Severance Hospital is the largest amount ever donated by an artist to Severance Children’s Hospital as well as to Yonsei Medical Center as a whole. The “Min Yoongi Treatment Center” will provide support for children and adolescents’ mental health, including language, psychological, and behavioral therapy, and will operate various programs that link clinical practice with research.
