TWICE’s Chaeyoung Officially Departs JYP Entertainment After 14 Years, To Pursue Independent Music Career
TWICE’s Chaeyoung is leaving JYP Entertainment, the agency she has been with for 14 years, and will move forward with an independent music career.
Chaeyoung shared a handwritten letter on her personal social media on August 13th, writing, “I wanted to personally be the first to share this news with ONCE, the family who has always been by my side.”
She continued, “I plan to build my music activities within my own world of ‘Real Fantasy,'” adding, “I want to express my gratitude to the people at JYP and the TWICE team who supported and believed in this mischievous member of theirs for 14 years.” She also shared her appreciation and affection for the members who supported her along the way.
While she is leaving the agency, her TWICE activities will continue. Chaeyoung emphasized, “Above all, my activities with TWICE will continue without change,” adding, “I believe the reason I’ve received so much love is because of the time I’ve spent with TWICE, which is my roots.”
She continued, “I hope that both TWICE’s Chaeyoung and ‘Real Fantasy’s’ Chaeyoung can continue to be someone who gives meaningful music to your lives,” adding, “I’ll become an even better person through this new challenge.”
Chaeyoung debuted with TWICE in 2015, and released her first solo full album, “Real Fantasy Vol.1,” last September. She took part in writing every track on the album, showcasing her own musical color.
