DAY6’s Dowoon Addresses Fans Directly Following Intense Backlash Over Dating And Marriage Rumors, Protest Trucks Sent Demanding His Departure
Backlash within DAY6’s fandom is growing after member Dowoon personally addressed the dating and marriage rumors involving YouTuber Yoo Ji Yoo. Some fans have even begun truck protests in front of JYP Entertainment’s headquarters, demanding his withdrawal from the group.
On the 28th, protest trucks calling for Dowoon’s removal were seen parked outside JYP Entertainment’s building. Messages displayed on the LED screens included “Yoon Dowoon Leave the Group,” “No Official Statement,” and “Do You Like Dowoon Leaving?”
Fans are reportedly criticizing not the dating rumors themselves, but the way the situation has been handled.
Recently, rumors about Dowoon dating Yoo Ji Yoo spread across online communities. Netizens pointed to matching accessories and items, photos involving pets, and mutual acquaintances as alleged evidence. The rumors later escalated into marriage speculation after claims surfaced that the two had been seen attending wedding consultations together. Yoo Ji Yoo is known as the younger sister of YouTuber Yoo Hye Joo.
In response, JYP Entertainment stated that it had “no official position.” Some fans interpreted this as an indirect confirmation of the relationship.
As the controversy intensified, Dowoon posted a message on social media, saying, “Our team will never disappear no matter what. I’m not going anywhere, and don’t even look at the hateful comments. I’m sorry for hurting you guys. Please wait just a little longer.”
However, many fans expressed disappointment with what they described as a vague emotional message. Some also criticized his wording, saying it did not feel like a proper apology or explanation. Others reacted negatively to the casual tone of the post, which included spelling mistakes and dialect expressions.
Meanwhile, DAY6 is currently promoting as a four-member group consisting of Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon. The group is scheduled to hold the finale concert of its 10th anniversary tour “< The Decade > Finale in Seoul” at KSPO DOME in Seoul Olympic Park this July, and they are also set to perform in Kobe, Japan next month.
