Famous HYBE Idol Falls Victim To Invasion Of Privacy And Stalking, Agency Files Criminal Complaint
ENHYPEN‘s Jay has been the victim of invasion of privacy and stalking.
On November 3, his agency BELIFT LAB said on the fan community platform Weverse, “We have recently confirmed that serious invasion of privacy and stalking were committed against ENHYPEN member Jay.”
According to the agency, the person responsible, identified as A, repeatedly tried to call Jay’s personal phone number starting in June. On the first call, A claimed to be an employee of an internet and TV installation service center, mentioned the artist’s family, and approached him under the pretense of product information. A asked what time he could call back and left a personal contact number, attempting to obtain additional information by deceiving the artist with false claims. However, when Jay checked directly with his family, it turned out that this was not true.
Despite Jay not responding, A reportedly tried to contact him several more times. A also recorded the call without permission and spread it on multiple social media accounts. Even after the matter became public, A has reportedly made excuses such as “it was a business call” and “I was hacked,” avoiding responsibility.
BELIFT LAB said, “We regard this case as a grave situation that goes beyond an invasion of the artist’s privacy and raises concerns about additional harm from the leak of personal information.”
The agency added, “Judging that the intent and the nature of the acts are malicious, including causing the artist mental distress and anxiety through continuous contact, luring the artist with false claims, and recording and spreading the call without permission, we have filed a criminal complaint against the person responsible.” It also said it sent official letters to the three major telecommunication companies to request cooperation in confirming the person’s identity.
The agency warned, “We make it clear that we will respond strongly under a zero-tolerance principle, with no settlement or leniency, to stalking and illegal leaks of personal information that infringe on the artist’s privacy and threaten his safety.”
ENHYPEN, which Jay belongs to, is active. The group will release the spin-off single “The Sin: Parallel World” on November 20 and make its third comeback in a year.
