Former NCT Member Taeil Reportedly Charged With Quasi Rape, SM Comments
Taeil (30, Moon Taeil), who recently withdrew from the boy group NCT due to being accused in a criminal case involving sexual offenses, has reportedly been charged with aggravated sexual assault [aggravated quasi-rape].
On October 7, Chosun Ilbo reported that Taeil was non-detained and transferred to the prosecution on September 12 under charges of aggravated sexual assault. According to the report, Taeil and two acquaintances were accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman in June. None of Taeil’s accomplices were identified as celebrities.
SM Entertainment, Taeil’s agency, responded to Star News on the same day, stating, “As the case is currently under investigation, it is difficult to comment at this time.”
Previously, SM issued a statement to its Twitter account to announce that Taeil has been implicated in a “criminal case related to sexual crimes.” SM said that after they looked into the situation and realized the severity of the matter, they’ve removed Taeil from NCT and will no longer carry out group activities.
Later, police denied several rumors about the case and confirmed he’s being investigated but refused to elaborate on what type of crimes he’s being investigated for.
The case has been shrouded in mystery thus far with very little details emerging to the public.

Taeil debuted as a member of NCT in 2016, serving as the main vocalist and being part of the subgroups NCT 127 and NCT U.
