According to her agency, the couple experienced conflict due to differences in personality and ended their marriage after going through the court-mandated cooling-off period. Custody of their child went to Kim Jung Eun, and the two agreed to maintain an amicable relationship even after the divorce.
The agency added, “We ask for your understanding that we cannot confirm any other details because they are private matters, and we respectfully ask that you refrain from malicious comments and speculative reports.”

Kim Jung Eun began her career in 1994 as a member of the mixed-gender project group Maronie and debuted as a solo singer in 1995. She had hits with “Propose” and “I Love You,” but later struggled to continue her activities due to vocal cord nodules. In 1991, she also took first place in the domestic finals of the Asian rookie singer competition “Voice Of Asia.”
In September, she appeared on the KBS 1TV music documentary “Song Documentary Back To The Music Season 2,” where she looked back on her long hiatus and her life in music. At the time, she revealed the controversy she experienced during her Maronie days, her vocal cord nodules, and the background behind her preparing new music, showing her determination for a comeback.
Separate from her personal changes, she plans to continue her music activities as scheduled. Kim Jung Eun will release “Mom Was Pretty,” a song she wrote the lyrics for herself, in November.
