MC Mong Causes Shock Sharing Photo Of Self-Harm And Talking About His Recent Suicide Attempt
MC Mong has caused quite the shock sharing photos of what appears to be his wrists injured from self-harm.
On the 11th of November, MC Mong posted a photo on his social media account showing what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds on his wrist, along with a lengthy message.
Through this post, he revealed, “This happened a month ago. About 10 minutes after the attempt, when the police arrived, I couldn’t control my tears and started crying. When one of the officers said, ‘Mong, I listened to your music again today,’ I broke down completely.”
He continued, “The moment I tried to make that extreme choice was the most foolish act of my entire life. Life is precious, and I believe I can change again.”
MC Mong reflected, “My last TV appearance was 17 years ago. I truly fought — it wasn’t about dodging military service. I’ve never once responded to freely written articles or malicious comments. I just lived going with the flow, accepting whatever scolding came my way. Maybe I’ve endured this pain longer than you think. Now, no matter what happens to me, I’m ready to see it through to the end.”
He added, “I want to remember the moment I almost gave up on the preciousness of life. I’m truly, deeply sorry. From now on, I’ll live strong and work hard.”
This comes after the backlash he received after sharing a photo of a painting of Hitler to his Instagram. To the backlash, he wrote, “This painting is an early work by artist Ok Seung Cheol. The straw-colored beard expresses human greed and selfishness… Please understand it as a piece of art.”
He added, “It’s a painting that’s been displayed since my time at the Double Sidekick recording studio and even at BPM Entertainment. I’ve shown it several times before — why is this suddenly becoming an issue now?”
MC Mong was accused of attempting to evade military service in 2010. Although he was ultimately acquitted of intentionally having teeth extracted to avoid enlistment, he was found guilty of delaying his enlistment by falsely applying for civil service exams and other methods. He was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for one year, and ordered to complete 120 hours of community service. As a result, MC Mong halted all broadcast activities and has since only been active in music-related work.
Earlier this year, it was reported that MC Mong had stepped down from his role at One Hundred (BPM Entertainment), which he co-founded with PIARC Group chairman Cha Gawon, around June.
