Because of this, Sunwoo’s fandom left comments on Nana’s Instagram such as, “You weren’t even there, so why are you criticizing? For a former idol who should understand the pain of idols to publicly criticize is insane,” “It’s careless to criticize based on just one short video,” “Is Nana someone who has the right to point out someone else’s behavior?” and “If you work in the entertainment industry, watch your mouth,” along with profanity at a level difficult to repeat. In response to these malicious comments, Nana replied with, “You can tell everything from just one thing.”

This escalated the situation even further and intensified some of the backlash against her.

Following this, On the 13th of April, Nana posted a message on a fan communication platform, saying, “It wasn’t a comment written to become an article, but it seems the matter has grown, and it’s bothering me.”

Explaining the process of writing the comment, Nana said, “It wasn’t that I was judging or defining that person as a certain kind of person, but his behavior looked very rude. It was quite a shocking video for me.”

She continued, “I felt that such behavior was not right. So I just expressed my feelings toward the action by saying, ‘He needs to be scolded.’ He looked at the dropped earphones and loudly said, ‘My earphones,’ but he kept his eyes fixed just a few steps away and didn’t move a single step.”

She further said, “Who is he telling to pick them up? Was he in a situation where he couldn’t move? Or is it that, just because the other person is a bodyguard—who could possibly be much older—should be his hands and feet? Did he say that so the person who dropped the item himself would walk over and get it? No, I didn’t see the video that way. It could be that I saw it wrong. Anyone can be misunderstood depending on the situation.”

Nana stated that she watched the video again and said, “I don’t know who he is, but if someone like that were beside me, I would’ve said the same thing as I did now. On top of ‘He needs to be scolded,’ I would’ve said, ‘Where did you learn to behave like that?’”

Meanwhile Sunwoo did post an explanation regarding the video. He said, “I was trying to find the airpods with my eyes but couldn’t, so I received it when someone picked it up for me, and in that moment, I didn’t bow my head but did say ‘thank you. Even when someone holds the door open for me or anything like that, I always make sure to say thank you.”

He said, “I can’t keep explaining everything forever, but if it looked that way, then that’s my fault and I acknowledge it,” and added, “I’ll continue to act well so that unfair stories like this don’t come out. I’m polite even to the people who clean at music shows and other places.”
