NJZ [NewJeans] To Halt Activities For The Time Being Out Of Respect To The Court Ruling, ADOR Says They Were Not Informed
NJZ/NewJeans members announced a temporary suspension of activities during their Hong Kong performance.
On the 23rd of March, NewJeans attended ComplexCon Hong Kong 2025 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. Performing under their newly chosen group name NJZ, they headlined the event and took the stage.
During the performance, the members not only showcased a new song but also announced a temporary halt in activities. Minji stated, “We respect the court’s decision, so we will take a step back for now, take a moment to pause, catch our breath, and refocus. After that, we will move forward again with renewed strength. Please understand that this is not the end—we will definitely return.”
ADOR, a label under HYBE and NewJeans’ official agency, expressed regret on the 24th of March, saying, “Despite the court’s decision, they proceeded with a performance under a different name and unilaterally announced a suspension of activities, which is very unfortunate. ADOR remains committed to supporting NewJeans under their valid exclusive contract and hopes to meet with the artists soon to discuss their future.”
According to News1, the Hong Kong performance was carried out independently, without ADOR’s involvement. ADOR staff dispatched to the venue were unable to meet the members in person. The suspension announcement was also reportedly made without prior discussion with ADOR.
Previously, on the 21st, the Seoul Central District Court’s 50th Civil Division (Chief Judge Kim Sang Hoon) ruled in favor of ADOR’s request for an injunction to preserve its status as the group’s agency and prohibit the signing of independent advertising contracts. This ruling put a halt to NewJeans members’ independent activities.
On the same day, ADOR released an official statement, saying, “As we have legally confirmed our status as NewJeans’ agency, we will continue to fulfill our responsibility in supporting the artists.” They also stated that they planned to support the ComplexCon performance under the name NewJeans.
