SM Says CBX’s Side Is Distorting Facts, Caused Harm To EXO And The Members In New Statement Addressing The Trio’s Recent Statement
Another pair of statements has been released between SM Entertainment and the CBX members (Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin).
Earlier today, CBX expressed their intention to reach an agreement with SM Entertainment and shared that they emptied their December schedule in anticipation of the group’s activities later this year. Additionally, they claimed to have been blindsided by the comeback announcement.
On the 29th of October, SM issued an official statement to confirm that they have indeed won all their disputes with the trio and despite that, the trio has yet to pay the 10% of their individual activity revenue agreed upon in 2023.

SM also said they regret the trio and their agency distorting the facts regarding what has been going on with their new statement.

We would like to address the statement released by Byun Baekhyun, Kim Jongdae, and Kim Minseok (hereafter referred to as “the three”).
Our company has already made it clear to the three that reaching a settlement to end the dispute and participating in group activities are two separate matters.
First, regarding the settlement of disputes — our company has prevailed in all of the disputes up to this point. Accordingly, the only thing we requested from the three was the payment of 10% of their individual activity revenues, as stipulated in the existing agreement dated June 18, 2023. However, this obligation has not yet been fulfilled.
Furthermore, regarding participation in group activities — since numerous unreasonable disputes have significantly damaged mutual trust between both parties, as well as caused considerable harm to EXO as a team and emotional distress to fans and members, it was only natural that the three should first fulfill the existing agreement and make a sincere effort to restore trust.
However, contrary to their claim that they had “clearly conveyed their intent to reach an agreement by accepting all of SM’s conditions after the second mediation session on October 2,” the three actually filed an objection first on October 16. We cannot hide our deep regret over today’s announcement by the three, which distorts these facts.
Our company will dedicate our utmost support and effort toward EXO’s activities beginning in December.
Meanwhile, EXO’s upcoming comeback will proceed with six members — Suho, Chanyeol, Kai, D.O., Sehun, and Lay — excluding the three members in dispute. They are scheduled to start with a fan meeting in December, followed by a new album release next year.
