Super Junior‘s Yesung recently expressed dissatisfaction regarding SM Entertainment’s 30th-anniversary concert preparations amid growing number of kpop idols from SM expressing their dissatisfaction with the concert.

Through the fan communication platform Bubble, Yesung shared, “I see questions about SMTOWN sometimes. Since it’s an event for a company I’ve been with for over 20 years, I’ll try to participate as much as I can, but I was barely involved in the album’s music.”

He further added, “As for the cold treatment towards the group songs, I’m too tired to even talk about it anymore and don’t want to. I’m just focusing on my concert, so please understand that.”

SM Entertainment is preparing a commemorative album for its 30th anniversary, with songs set to premiere at the “SMTOWN LIVE 2025” concert, scheduled for January 11–12 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. Yesung’s remarks seem to reflect his disappointment with the album production process.

Yesung isn’t the only SM artist to express discontent with the anniversary event. Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and Red Velvet’s Wendy have also highlighted issues. Both were initially slated to perform but later confirmed their absence.

On January 6, Taeyeon stated on Bubble, “I was eager to prepare a two- or three-song set and had communicated this to the company. But in the end, I wasn’t supported, and I can’t participate at all. It’s not because I lack motivation or don’t want to perform.”

She continued, “I’m serious about my performances and want to give my best, but without support, it’s hard to do so. I’m seriously reflecting on this.” When a fan suggested that the company might have its reasons, Taeyeon replied, “Maybe their reason is that they forgot to inform me, which could be an awkward situation for them.”

Similarly, Wendy, who also withdrew from the stage, commented, “You might’ve seen the notice or maybe not yet. I discussed this with the company over a month ago, but the announcement only came out today. I’m sorry to those waiting for Red Velvet’s full five-member stage.”

The “SMTOWN LIVE 2025” Seoul concert will feature performances from artists like H.O.T.’s Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, SHINee’s Key and Minho, EXO’s Suho and Chanyeol, Red Velvet (excluding Wendy), NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, NCT New Team, aespa, RIIZE, Navis, and Raiden.

Additionally, trainees from SMTR25, the SM Jazz Trio, and former SM artists such as Tony An, Bada, and Hwanhee will also participate in the event.
