Byeon Woo Seok’s Security Personnel Airport Incident Escalates, Could Potentially Result In An Investigation And Potential Lawsuit, Here Is Why
Several high profile Korean media outlets and newspapers have covered Byeon Woo Seok’s Security Personnel Airport Incident including national TV news stations and now, its been reported that the incident could escalate even further!
On the 16th of July, actor Byun Woo Seok returned to South Korea via Incheon International Airport after completing his Asia fan meeting tour in Hong Kong.
His security team seemed to be aware of the previous controversy, as they were less aggressive in their protection efforts, and the number of private security staff was notably reduced.
The excessive security controversy began on the 12th of July when Byun Woo Seok was departing for his tour. Private security firms hired for his protection had blocked the entry gate for about 10 minutes and used flashlights to prevent nearby passengers from seeing him. They also obstructed the escalator entrance to the lounge, checking passengers’ passports and tickets, leading to significant criticism.
As a result, Byun Woo Seok’s security company faced a complaint filed with the National Human Rights Commission for human rights violations.
The controversy led his agency, Varo Entertainment, to issue an apology which was met poorly by netizens.
However, the Incheon Airport Police are conducting a pre-investigation into the security guards involved in the excessive security measures.
An official from Incheon International Airport Corporation told Money Today, “We are reviewing legal actions against the unauthorized actions of the security firm and will closely cooperate with relevant agencies to strengthen site control and actively respond to illegal activities by private security firms, ensuring the safety and convenience of airport users.” They also mentioned considering filing complaints for abuse of authority or coercion.
Netizens criticized the fans who returned to the airport despite the controversy: “Don’t make the actor look bad by going to the airport in this heavy rain. Think about what’s best for the actor,” “Fans should just watch from one spot without following around,” “It’s still chaotic. The fans are part of the problem,” “Fans should protect the actor first. If an accident happens, it’ll be Byun Woo Seok who gets blamed.”
