Cha Ye Ryun’s Agency Releases 2nd Statement Denying School Bullying Allegations Once Again, Announces Strict Legal Action
Actress Cha Ye Ryun‘s side has once again denied the school bullying allegations against her and announced legal action.
On November 4, her agency HB Entertainment released an official statement saying, “We express deep regret for causing concern to fans and the public over the recent controversy surrounding Cha Ye Ryun that has continued online.”
The agency reaffirmed its earlier position that the allegations are groundless. It added, “We are taking very seriously the current situation in which unverified anonymous claims and speculation are repeatedly spreading and criticism is even being directed at the actress’s family.”
The agency continued, “We will thoroughly secure the relevant materials and respond responsibly after legal review against the malicious spread of false information and personal attacks. We will take strong measures so the damage does not grow.”
The controversy began in late October, when a post was uploaded online claiming that a woman actress born in 1985 had bullied and assaulted the writer during middle school, as we reported earlier. The post did not use a real name, but some netizens pointed to Cha Ye Ryun based on her birth year and school.
Her agency rebutted it on October 30, saying, “After checking, it is groundless.” The post was temporarily restricted from access as of November 2. However, a temporary measure is not a process that judges whether a post’s contents are true.
Afterward, comments from netizens claiming to be classmates continued, and the criticism spread to the personal account of her husband, actor Ju Sang Wook. In the end, the production team of her channel “Cha Jang Geum Cha Ye Ryun” turned off the comment function on some videos, saying they would prevent reckless rumors and personal attacks against her family.
On November 3, a post by a netizen who claimed to have worked as a golf course caddie in the past and alleged being treated rudely by Cha Ye Ryun was introduced on a channel. However, whether the writer actually worked there and the facts of the claim have not been revealed, and the allegations raised so far remain unverified.
