Lee Yi Kyung Breaks His Silence About Private Life Controversy, Publicly Calls Out Several Korean Variety Shows For Their Treatment
Actor Lee Yi Kyung, who became embroiled in a private-life rumor, has spoken up for the 1st time and shared how he felt during the controversy.
On the 21st of November, Lee Yi Kyung posted a lengthy statement to his official Instagram account. He wrote, “Hello. This is Lee Yi Kyung. The reason I did not talk about my position during that time is because the agency requested that I refrain from mentioning it until I appointed a lawyer and completed the criminal complaint against the distributor,” and for the first time directly spoke about the private-life rumor.
Posting a photo of the complaint, he stated, “A few days ago, I visited the Seoul Gangnam Police Station and did the complainant statement investigation. I delivered my position regarding the rumor, and I finished the complaint procedure for threats and defamation by stating false information.”
Lee Yi Kyung said, “Every single moment, anger surged. A person claiming to be a German, whose identity and reality I do not even know, repeatedly appeared and disappeared, just like when they sent a threatening email to the company months ago, and the company once more calmed me down saying there is no reason to engage in a truth battle regarding false information.”
Then he said, “It was said to be manipulated within a day and disappeared, but because of that, I received a recommendation to step down from a variety show, and we ended up choosing voluntary departure.”
In his statement, he also publicly called out several variety show production teams for their treatment of him, “Even during the previous ‘face-saving controversy,’ I clearly said I did not want to do it, but they said they borrowed the noodle restaurant because of me and asked, and my line ‘We are doing it as a variety show!’ was edited out. After the controversy broke out, the production team only gave the absurd excuse that they were in a hurry, and the controversy had to be endured entirely by me personally, and my image suffered great damage,” revealing behind-the-scenes details of filming for “Hangout With Yoo.”
He also said, “In another variety show, I was told I would only appear through VCR, but after reading the article I learned I had been replaced. Currently, filming is proceeding without changes. Recently, I finished filming the movie ‘Generational Disappointment,’ and the filming for the Vietnam movie, overseas drama, and variety show is going well.”

Lee Yi Kyung added, “The conclusion you all may be curious about is that, after the warrant is issued, the suspect will soon be identified. Even if they are in Germany, I will go directly to Germany and submit the complaint. There will be absolutely no leniency for malicious commenters. Lastly, I thank the fans who believe in me and wait for me, and I thank ‘I Am Solo,’ ‘Brave Detectives,’ ‘Handsome Guys,’ and everyone else who believed in me and kept their loyalty.”
The controversy began last month because of Person A, who wrote an exposé-type post claiming they would reveal Lee Yi Kyung’s private life. Person A uploaded a post, capturing and revealing KakaoTalk and DM conversations exchanged with a person saved as “Lee Kyung actor,” claiming that the person having sexual conversations was actor Lee Yi Kyung.
After the post caused huge repercussions and the agency announced legal action, Person A posted an apology and retracted their claims. Then took to their SNS and wrote, “I didn’t receive money, and I wasn’t threatened.”
However, again they claimed, “I’m thinking about uploading the proof again… It feels a bit like this can’t end like this… haha. It’s frustrating since I’m not AI. They are making me the bad guy and a victim,” changing their words again. Recently, they uploaded a post saying, “All the evidence I uploaded was real,” and then deleted the account again.
