Nana Recounts the Terrifying Robbery That Left Her Mother Strangled and How She Fought to Protect Her
Actress and singer Nana vividly described what happened with her mother during the robbery incident in which an intruder broke into their home.
On the 9th, a new video was uploaded to the YouTube channel of Shin Dong-yeop.
Actors Ju Ji-hoon, Ha Ji-won, and Nana appeared as guests on the show.
Host Shin Dong-yup mentioned the recent incident in which Nana and her mother subdued a burglar who had broken into their home. He said, “I saw it in the news too. They said you fought off a thief. I’m so glad you weren’t seriously hurt. It’s amazing, especially since you were with your mother. Didn’t you lose your senses because of your mom? Don’t children sometimes go all out for their parents?”
In response, Nana said, “My mom is someone more precious than my own life. Everything happened so chaotically. It was really fortunate. That moment felt extremely long, but at the same time each second passed in an instant. After the situation settled, I thought that if a dangerous situation ever happens again, I should act instinctively.”
She continued explaining the situation: “In a way, it could have been very dangerous. If I had hesitated even for a moment, I might have been the one in danger. The same goes for my mom. Honestly, I wonder if I would have had that courage if there hadn’t been a weapon. I never even imagined there would be one. But I saw the weapon fall, and without realizing it, I instinctively defended myself.”
Nana said that she and her mother became even closer after the robbery. “We’re each other’s only family in the world. We already believed we were special to each other, but after going through this incident, we felt it once again.”
She recalled the tense moment: “My mom was in the living room while I was asleep in my room. The living room is far away and it’s hard to hear sounds. But almost like a blessing, I heard a small noise and woke up.”
She continued, “At that time, my mom couldn’t scream because she was worried it might wake me. She even briefly lost consciousness because her neck was being strangled. Later she said she regretted that moment when she was struggling to breathe. She said she wished she had at least shouted ‘Lock the door.’ I could feel how scared she must have been. It made us realize that we’ll protect each other for the rest of our lives.”
Nana also revealed that even in such a frightening situation, her mother was trying to protect her daughter, which touched many viewers.
Meanwhile, in November last year, a robber broke into the home where Nana lives with her mother. After a physical struggle, Nana and her mother subdued the intruder, identified as Mr. A, and reported him to the police.
During the incident, Nana was injured and her mother also received hospital treatment. The suspect also suffered a cut on his jaw, but police determined that the injuries Nana and her mother caused were self-defense, so they were not charged.
Later, the suspect filed a counter-complaint against Nana for attempted murder, but the police concluded there was no evidence of wrongdoing and decided not to send the case to prosecutors.
