Seo Hyun Jin Addresses The Divided Opinions “The Trunk” Received

Seo Hyun Jin expressed her thoughts on the mixed reactions to “The Trunk”!

On the 6^th of December, Seo Hyun Jin met with Spotv News at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, and said, “I am aware of the mixed reactions to ‘The Trunk.'”

“The Trunk” is a mystery melodrama about a mysterious marriage service revealed through a trunk floating in a lakeside and the strange marriage story of a man and woman placed within it.

The drama is based on the novel of the same name by Kim Ryeoryeong, who was recognized for bold themes and creative imagination. It was directed by Kim Gyutae, known for dramas like “Our Blues” and “It’s Okay, That’s Love,” and written by Park Eunyeong, who penned “Hwarang.” Together, they delivered a provocative and stylish mystery melodrama.

However, audience reactions to “The Trunk” have been divided. Some appreciate how well it captured the essence of the original, while others find the dramatic and provocative direction unappealing.

Regarding this, Seo Hyun Jin commented, “I am aware of the reactions. From the start of filming, I thought this would be something that people who like it would enjoy, while others might find it uncomfortable.”

She added, “The tone is dark, and there aren’t many moments of relief, so it might not be a light drama to unwind with at the end of the day. For those looking for something like that, it might feel tiring. But for those who are well-rested over the weekend and want to dive into something engaging, I think this would suit them.”

Seo Hyun Jin plays Noh Inji, a woman who ends up alone because of marriage. Although she finds the concept of marriage revolting, she chooses it as her career and, as part of a contract-based marriage matchmaking company, meets her fifth husband, Han Jeongwon played by Gong Yoo.
