The king gets ambushed in the forest and things go south. Prince Jesan stages a coup and leads it. He kills the Queen Dowager and a bunch of the people who supported the king.
Chef Yeon is barely saved by Gong-Gil who tells her whats going on.
Prince Jesan shows up before Queen Ja-Hyun and her young kid and basically threatens her into signing documents and declaring that the king is no longer ruling and that her son shall ascend the throne. She agrees to it with difficulty.
The ceremony is held for the young kid’s coming to the throne and he sits there led by Prince Jesan and his people. His people also spread horrible rumors about how cruel and crazy Yeon has gotten and how he’s dead.
One of Prince Jesan’s henchmen tells him he didn’t manage to kill him. He then faces him as he requests his presence after narrowly escaping death. Heon sees who Mok-Ju sided with and tells her soon the swords she pointed will point at her.
As they both sit down and discuss. Heon relents and agrees to be disposed and exiledin return for the young king to lead well. He believes this is his karma and he must bear the consequences of all the people he killed and hurt. He is then imprisoned and given the cookbook he wrote with Chef Yeon’s recipes.
As he lays in prison, Gong-Gil tells him she’s alive. He writes in the book what Yeon read in the airplane before she was transported back into the past.
Heon gets transported outside in front of all people to see and lash at him. Chef Yeon sees him and assures him all will be good.
As they transport him through the forest, one man prepares to kill him but he gets ambushed with Heon’s men who showed up to help. The cooks who also helped chef Yeon show up to help too. A huge fight starts.
The fight is not going well but their friend who has bombs shows up and helps them out until Prince Jesan kidnaps Chef Yeon and tells Heon to meet him alone at a different location.
Heon tells his people to go reclaim the palace and kill all of his uncle’s men. They do that and kill all the men who seized the throne. Gong-Gil also finds Mok-Ju and confronts her saying she’ll die for what she’d done to his sister but she beats him to it and stabs her own heart. However, he comes closer and stabs her again killing her instantly.
At night Heon shows up at the location where the uncle is and three more men there. He fights them as Yeon does her best to escape. As he’s fighting the men, his uncle is about to stab him but Yeon interferes and gets stabbed in his place. She dies.
A bloody red moon appears as this happens and Yeon ascends sort of to the skies. Heon is crying watching her leave. As she leaves, he stabs the uncle who was about to kill him.
In the present time
Ji-Young wakes up and goes back to her place. She sees the past has changed and he disappeared after that coup attempt and no one found him. She tries to read the journal’s lines that transported her back to the past but nothing happens.
Eventually, her friend begs her to come and work on the restaurant he has so they could reclaim their michellen star. She agrees to work for a month and is even surprised by new staff of chefs who all resemble the ones she used to work with in the palace.
She’s happily working until one day, a man believed to be a judge shows up. He looks a lot like Im Song-Jae and makes a fuss about the food. She goes out to confront him and questions if he’s even a chef.
As she’s fighting with him, Heon shows up and helps her out too. She’s stunned to see him in the present and people comment on his accent. She hugs him from behind and the two share a kiss at the restaurant.
On another day, she wakes up and finds him cooking her a bibimbap and slightly complains but enjoys it nonetheless. The two happily eat and cook together. In voice over she says she’s happy they’re reunited at last.
