“A Love Other Than Yours” episode 14 recap

Namgung Ho and Mi Do meet at a church. They both explain that they parted ways with the other person they were with and came straight to the church.

Ho tells Mi Do, “It’s not your fault.” He says he insisted on seeing it through to the end, even if things got completely ruined. Mi Do says they deeply cared about each other, despite how agonizing and sad it was. Then they look at each other and say, “Let’s break up,” and they agree to it.

The next day, Mi Do’s mother comes to her side and tells her she has never seen him cry this badly. He was crying his heart out, and she knew they were never getting back together. She tells her, “Eventually, life will go on.” She tells her to forget about it, not resent him and move on with her life.

Wan Do sees the music box Bora left behind. As he imagines her, he tells her, “I loved you a lot,” and cries there, missing her.

Moon Young tries on a wedding dress, and her son hypes her up. He also congratulates her, and he means it.

Mi Do goes back to the bar where she used to hang out with Ho and cries as she imagines their days together and what they used to be like.

2 years later

Two years go by. Ho returns to South Korea for the first time in what appears to be a while, and he notices just how much his boss has changed and gained footing in the industry. His boss tells him he needs him to take over the team as team leader. Ho requests a 20% pay increase and a separate contract for incentive pay. His boss says he never wanted to climb this high and asks Ho to come back and help him, because he can’t do it much anymore.

As they’re discussing, Su A shows up. They haven’t seen each other in a long time, and she’s now an associate.

Tae Seung is now defending a bad person who is either going to jail or getting a long sentence. He works pro bono for now and tells his client, “I’m taking your case pro bono, so be happy with whatever you’re given.” He says the woman he loved told him to be a good person.

Mi Do now teaches film directing courses at a university. She is told that Ho came back to Korea, and many people wonder whether he won’t visit because of her.

Tae Seung talks to Mi Do about how Ho is back in South Korea. She tells him not to go to her mom to touch up his roots again. He hugs her and admits he’s clingy, saying, “You made my heart race once again.” He asks her to tell him she doesn’t miss Ho at all anymore.

She asks back, “Are you that insecure? Do you think I’m playing with you?” She tells him it’s true that she misses Ho, but not in the way he thinks. She wonders how he’s doing and she’s worried about him. Then the couple kiss.

Ho goes to Su A’s apartment and asks, “Did your blind date go well?” She asks him why he gave her the plants. He says that because of changes in a project, he had to ship his stuff but then couldn’t come back to South Korea, so he gave them to her because he knew she would take care of them for him.

Then he tells her, “I thought my feelings for you had to be 100%, and I thought I shouldn’t return until then.” She hears this, slams the door in his face and goes inside. Then she opens it again and asks, “Are they at 100% yet? Is that why you came back?” He says, “No, because I couldn’t bring them down to 0%. This is why I came back,” and he kisses her.

Young Do and Wan Do meet up with Ho, and he tells them that from now on, they will only meet once a year, on Wan Do’s birthday. They’re rattled by this, but decide to remain friends and brothers. Ho cries, and Wan Do assures him that he’ll be fine even without them.

One last trip

After he returns home, Ho and Mi Do face each other in the elevator. Mi Do tells him, “We both deliberately waited so we could cross paths with each other.” Ho explains that he’s moving out in a month and won’t ever see her again after tomorrow. He asks her to go on a trip with him, to a place he really wants to go with her. He tells her she can choose not to come, but this will be the last time they see each other. She thinks about it, and then comes on the trip with him.

They sit down for food and agree to flick each other on the forehead if anybody answers a question wrong. They start answering questions about each other from throughout their relationship.

Then Ho asks Mi Do, “Do you ever regret knowing me?” She says no, she never regretted it, because what happened was an incident that could not have been avoided. When she asks him whether he regrets it, he says yes. “I was a curse that brought the worst into your life.” He says if they had met like ordinary people, their ending could have been different, and it makes him feel a bit bitter.

Mi Do says, “This is why you brought me here, to say everything you wanted to say and leave nothing behind.” She tells him to have a good life and that they should never see each other again after that day. But then she comes back, despite saying she doesn’t want to see him again, and they leave together.

They go through the market, and he says he wants a balloon just like the one she gave him when they first met. He ends up getting it and they both play there.

As he’s enjoying the waves, she comes to his side and tells him she’ll buy him another dinosaur balloon if he wants. Then, very angry, she tells him, “You wanted to see both my brothers once a year. Don’t say this is the end and you won’t see me after today at all.”

He says he actually wants to distance himself from her brothers even more. He will make it once every 3 years, then once every 5 years, and then end it all together to make sure they don’t see each other again. She cries and tells him, “You don’t have to do this.”

After she cries her heart out, she spots a child drowning, so she swims out to save him. As she’s swimming back to shore, Ho runs after her, and they both save the child’s life.

Mi Do says their meeting wasn’t a curse. She was running the entire time it happened, and her dad would have felt the same. She says, “It wasn’t a curse. It was a miracle,” and Ho cries. She explains that she wanted to make him happy when she gave him that balloon, and that he’s the one who taught her life could be happy.

It’s almost midnight, and Ho asks her if she has any other questions for him. She asks, “What did you do with Angela at the motel?” and he looks at her weirdly. He asks Mi Do to say his name, and she does. Then, with tears welling in their eyes, they rest on each other’s shoulders.

Later, Mi Do sees that Ho is moving away, with the moving company carrying out his stuff. He left something by her door. It’s a book, and inside is a drawing of her resting on a desk from when they were in high school. She cries as she recalls it.

The end.
