“Confidence Queen” Ending Explained

“Confidence Queen” aired its 12^th and final episode today. Let us recap the finale!

During a meeting with the chairman, Gu Ho shows up as his adoptive son. The chairman announces him as the CFO of the project they’re working on.

We find out via flashbacks that Gu Ho asked Chairman Cho to help him take revenge.

Kang Yo-Seop leads the project and notices something between Gu Ho and Yi Rang. Yi Rang seems surprised and extremely flustered he’s there and they get into multiple altercations.

They’re about to get the project with the Saudis and the man demands something big to be done in a brief period. The team faces a crisis unable to do it first until Yi Rang steps in and aids Kang Yo-Seop in finding a way. She arranges a meeting with a Mexican-Korean man who can aid with this project.

When the man shows up, its James in disguise. He demands 15 million dollars which takes Kang Yo-Seop by surprise. After leaving the meeting with James, he suspects something is going on between Yi Rang and Gu Ho and listens in on their conversations figuring out that they’re both trying to take revenge on him for different reasons.

Kang Yo-Seop arranges another meeting but this time, only the trio shows up. He sets them up and escorts them downstairs to a game of Chess which triggers Yi Rang’s trauma. He then reveals he’s known about it and gloats about what he did to her.

A bunch of armed men show up and hold them hostage. Then, as he taunts Yi Rang, Gu Ho gets extremely angry and takes a gun and point it at him. Kang Yo-Seop tells him if he won’t shoot him, both will die. Eventually, he gives up and gets shot in the chest instead.

Kang Yo-Seop leaves them as Gu Ho bleeds and then heads out because he got a call that Abdullah, the man he’s trying to score is in Korea. When he gets there, he’s surprised that its James, Gu Ho and Yi Rang. They then expose how they did it and how they made sure to trap him.

We find out that got a lot of people to help bring him down. Yi Rang then tells him to apologize but of course, he refuses. Then police shows up and he says the statue of limitations has expired but it turns out it didn’t and a year remains.

The police detective shows him evidence of him admitting to the crime on tape. He then runs away but as he’s running away, he hallucinates Yi Rang by his side in the car and eventually, gets into the water crashing from a bridge.

Police suspends research after a month of not finding his body. Yi Rang and the team celebrate and some reveal their plans to do different things. Then, she lures them into scamming another horrible person and they’re all in.

The end.

In the post-credit scene, Yi Rang turns to the camera and says “Confidence Queen” will be back.
