“Gold Land” Ending Explained- Did Hee Joo Escape With The Gold?

Disney+ “Gold Land” aired its two final episodes today. Let us discuss the ending!

Hee Joo comes to the place and finds Jang Wook injured. They both look for the gold bars and there is none which means they were taken. The two escape before the gangs show up. Jang Wook asks how she escaped detective Kim. Hee Joon says she gave him gold bars and he let her go. Jang Wook finds this odd.

Dokyung arrives at a pawn shop and Ho Cheol gets note he’s there. He’s kept there until he arrives. They immediately zone in on him and cuff him. They ask him to call Hee Joo or else. He calls thinking she’s not going to answer but she does. Ho Cheol says if she does not arrive with the gold bars, he’ll kill him.

On the way to the pawn shop, Hee Joo checks the dashbox camera and lies to Jang wook about the car color she saw. They both then split and try to locate the gold. As Hee Joo arrives there, Dokyung senses something is odd with his henchman and asks to check his phone, the henchman makes a big fuzz and as he hands him his phone after arguing, he slashes his throat. Hee Joo sees all of that and panics with the gun in her hand.

Ho Cheol goes back inside and then asks the rest of the men if anyone knows what they’re after, he says its gold bars before he kills most of them. Hee Joo sneaks inside the shop to get Dokyung and as they try to escape Ho Cheol comes back inside and they begin shooting at each other. Ho Cheol wins initially because she runs out of bullets and surrounds them, he says if she does not reveal where the gold bars are, he’ll kill them. Dokyung asks her not to, and gets shot. He is killed.

As Ho Cheol tries to torture the information out of Hee Joo, her father shows up and shoots at him. Another round of shots get fired before Hee Joo loads her gun and hunts Ho Cheol, she shoots him dead, but she suffers a shot to her upperbody area next to her arm.

The three leave and Jang wook and the detective arrive at the place. He sees what he believes are the gold bars, Jang Wook gets into a standoff with the detective before Hoon-Seok corrects them and says they’re fake. He did it because HeeJoo asked him to.

Chairman Ahn has taken custody of Hee Ju somehow and his guy takes the bullet out of her. He then calls the detective and they arrange for them to give him the gold bars in exchange for Hee Joo. Detective Kim goes back to resting place of his wife and hands Jang Wook the mother’s ashes. Jang Wook asks if he’ll make it and says surely he will.

They meet at 6 pm and Hee Joo is let go while his men investigate the bars. Hee Joo manages to escape just before the man inspecting finds out they’re fake. The detective recalls how her mother said to let her go and how Hee Joo wanted to live a normal life, he dies then and there getting shot. He aims the gun correctly to his head while its being held by someone else.

On the way, Hee Joo takes the gun Jang wook said she should keep for protection, she aims it at him and asks him to get off, he says he wont steal the gold but she says there is a slight chance he might. She then arrives at the port, hands in the guy one kilo of gold and finally escapes the place with her car loaded with gold bars.

A while later

Hee Joo is now somewhere in France. She lives happily and learned how to speak French. She lives in a nice house. She was brought her dad’s ashes along with loads of money. She hides it in a safe place in the vineyard she lives in.

Then Woogy shows up, he greets her with a fist bump and remarks on how she’s made it. This means the two kept in contact.

From behind Geonggang is following them. He asks around the place if anyone knows her and the man refuses to answer him. He leaves despite knowing the man is lying.
